Default weight reduction, sway bar should stay

i took a few more parts off my truck last night. the tow hooks, sway bar, spare winch. really geting ready for opening day. i dont have a scale but am going to try and get one today. the winch and tow hooks seemed prety heavy and are doing me no good but the sway bar weighed almost nothing and there is ALOT of body roll now. i dont think that is a good permanant weight reduction item, not even worth doing for an all out best ET run even. well, maybe it would help the 2wd guys a little with weight transfer since it is right up front.

i will be positng some weights of the parts i took off as soon as i get a scale if anyone cares.

I plan on removing my swaybar for better transfer. Those things also wiegh over 40#. I want to do a little test driving with it off to so I can see how it handles.

this bar must be hollow, i think it is closer to 5lb's, not over 10lbs.

just got a scale, just a cheap one but you will get the idea.

sway bar with hardware 9lbs
2 front tow hooks with hardware 5lbs
spare winch 5lbs

so i droped about 20lbs, rule of thum thats 2/100, ever so much closer to 11's

i am very suprized that thing is soo light, must be made out of some composite/alloy or be hollow.

The one I picked up at the junkyard must have been sitting with the wrong wreck then. Because that think was heavy. Maybe not 40#'s, but definatly more than 9#. Well, that's good to know that it only weighs that little. Between my receiver and rear bumper, I lost 100#'s.

2wd trucks with the Z85 suspension package (pre-runner package i guess)have larger swaybars than even the 4wd Z71s. I have Z85 and that thing is huge! maybe that is what you picked up Greg?

The stock sway-bar is indeed hollow, however, in additionn to weight reduction removing the sway bar will also help the front end lift on acceleration, which will promote better weight transfer to the back wheels.
