Default Weaknesses with C3?

I am looking at selling my f-body and perhaps buying a Chevy or GMC Truck. The one I would like most would be the GMC C3. i was just wondering if any of you knew of any weaknesses, or defect that they have that would have that would keep them from being that great of a platform? Also if you have any suggestions of a better platform, please let me know what you think. Thanks

Great trucks but if you plan on making big power ... plan on spending some of that hard earned cash on the driveline...I don't think the viscous coupler has been tested to its limits yet. No one really knows how much they can take but I can't imagine that they were made to handle much more than 450 ft-lbs of torque...

Heres the link to the lingenfelter packaged C3:

Hell of a truck. I'd love to have one. Forget the Sierra Denali with the big-rig lights on the roof, the C3 is the one to have. Very nice seating inside. The C3 didnt sell well. They stickered @ $39K, but were selling later in the year for a $30K and change. I actually saw a new 01 C3 on ebay about 6 weeks ago from a Dallas dealership that still hadn't sold it. The bid hit $30K, but reserve still not met.

So what are some of these C3's running that you know of. There is a guy in town that has an ATI on his and says it should run 12's but I am calling BS seeing that there is NO internal work done on his truck right now, and they weigh approx 4,800 from what I've heard. If I am incorrect please tell me.
I just need to find out if this truck has the potential to hit 12's without an INSANE amount of money. I would definately do a (3500-3800)stall, headers, exhaust, and either boost it or spray it. I would probably wait until the engine went to do any internals. I would probably also do a LS6 manifold, and a TB. What times do you think that I should hit with all of that. I know that it is hard to guess, but I am sure that some of you have a pretty good idea. Please let me know.
Thanks.

Aaron

come on, somebody has got to know if a c3 would be even close to 12's with these mods. Please let me know, because if I am going to get this deal, then I need to decide soon. Thanks

i'd highly doubt that a truck that big with all wheel drive can pull a 12 second pass with just the supercharger alone. i couldnt imagine a h.p. gain of more than lets say 140 max with a supercharger. so you take the rated 300hp then the percentage lost from the flywheel to the rear wheels then add your 140 max, most likely will be much lower than 140, you can use that as a baseline. you do the math <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

That is just what I am trying to find out. The C3 is rated at 325hp though, and if I do headers, I am going to do the ASM full length headers, and also at least a 3500 stall which should help out signifigantly, especially with the AWD. The supercharger would probably be an ATI procharger at 9 psi. I just don't really know what to expect with the LS1 based vortec trucks. I would hope that these could do it, but if they can't, what do you think it would take to make an almost 5,000lb C3 hit 12's?
