Re: Weaknesses with C3?
That's good to know parish8. I have seen a couple articles where they wrighed the trucks, and one said 4800lbs, and one said 5017lbs. I would probably believe the 5017, because it seems more like an actual # rather than a guesstimate.
If this deal with the C3 doesn't go through, how well do the 4x4's hold up to drag racing? Do most of them survive, or do they end up breaking a lot of stuff. I will definately be leaning in that direction if I am unable to get this. Plus that means more mod money!

Re: Weaknesses with C3?
that weight really makes me wonder. that truck should have all the componets of a 4wd, the tranzfer case may be a little lighter since it will have no low range or any 2wd selection but the whole tranzfer case is only 100lb's or so. i would say into the 13's on a 4wd things will last awhile, tranny rebuild of course. into the 12's i can't say but i have my doubts.

Re: Weaknesses with C3?
I have a C3, here are a few things I know for sure.
My truck is a daily driver and is stock down to the air filter. I love it and would not trade it in on any other kind of truck (I had a 99' Lightning before it).
Mine weighs 5025 lbs. and ran the 1/4 mile in 15.25. I was planning to put a whipple on it but decided against it and just bought my SS. I seriously doubt you can get this truck to run under a 13.5 with just a blower unless you run a crap load of boost. Just remember stock compression is in the low 9.0 range so it is possible. Traction doesn't seem like it will ever be a problem, even on stock tread.
I will never say never, but overcoming that much weight is a big challenge. If you are looking for cadillac comfort, truck utility and would be happy in the 13's, this is a great choice IMO.

Re: Weaknesses with C3?
The stock compresion on the C3 is 9.4:1. It has the mysterious 4L65E transmission, so I think it should hold up better than a standard 4L60E. That truck is just begging for a Cam and higher compression with a little spray to get things going.
I'm pretty sure that all C3s came with 3.73 gears from the factory.
