I went through this with Ford on my PSD. I did have an edge, different downpipe, no cats, mac intake and three gauges on the A pillar and bigger tires and rims. My tranny started acting funny, slipping in 5 gear. SO I called the local Ford(****) dealer and talked to a service writer that frequents the Ford Truck Enthusiast website daily, while he is at work even. I told him about my delima and asked him about my no cat-intake, and he told me I would be fine. I removed the edge unit, and drove it up there. In the mean time they can't figure out what is wrong with my tranny, but in truth they were buying time for the regional rep to come in and look at my truck. Needless to say SHE(rep) tried to void my warranty because of the 3 gauges and bigger tires. Not because of no cat on my truck, which is a federal violation. I tried to get her to call me with no outcome. I ended up having a friends FOrd dealership(75 miles away) get my warranty reinstated by her boss. All this took about 3 months. I guess what I am getting at is like I stated earlier anything that you alter is reason for voiding your warranty. The big 3 are losing money out the *** right now so anyway they can save money they will take. Even if it means losing loyale costumers.
I took my Chevy in to see how much for a crank relearn, and the service writer was stupified on why I needed to get it done. He kept asking me what year is your truck, even went as far as to walk over and to start writing my VIN down. I don't know what he planned on doing with it since my truck has over 36,000 miles on it. SOmetimes I wonder if these uys don't get a cut from whichever company they work for voiding peoples warranties, lets face it that would save them an assload of money.

the guys at the dealer here are cool as hell. they've all got the mod bug with their trucks. we've got kind of an unspoken deal going. they turn a blind eye (completely) to my mods as far as warranty goes and i hook'em up with some tuning. hell one of the guys was p&p his ETC throttle body and slipped with the die-grinder, oops. he said F* it, sent it in as a warranty item. now ain't that some ****.
