I just put flex fans in over the weekend. The stock clutch fan was a breeze to get out. Just put a pair of vise-grips on the fan nut, and then hit the vise grips with some type of a soft blow hammer to pop the nut loose. Then you can just spin it off. Get the Flex-a-lite variable speed controller, it works very nicely. Hope this helps.

The clutch fan pulley stays on, it runs the water pump. The end of it is threaded and that's what the fan nut screws onto. Here is a thread with a picture of it. You might need to wrap the belt like that if the pulley keeps spinning when you're trying to loosen the fan nut.

If you have an 18" crescent wrench, use that, and a rubber mallet. That will do the trick. If you can't get it to break loose, get a 2 lbs sledge or a ball pien hammer to hit the wrench with.

Taking the fan shroud off will help out too.
