I think primarily it is availablity. Intake elbows are popular because they are readily available, and put the throttle body in a location close to stock. As for plenum volume, yes the elbow adds some volume, but since most of the applications using the Vic Jr. are boosted, that really doesn't matter as much.

but i got a 218/218 of a member today a little better than the 02zo6 so im guessin thatl be a good one till i get everything worked out then get a comp custom grind

The bigger the Plenum, the better it will perform at top-end, the smaller the Plenum the better it will perform at low to mid range. Richards throttle body mounts are the way to go if you want to keep the vic jr intake in the rpm range Edelbrock desianed it for, or like others have said, a four barrel style throttle body. The only problem with WCCH throttle body is if you are cable operated... And Richard is (was) selling them at a great deal.. Edelbrock now makes elbows, but the added volume will finish off the already hurting bottom end performance of the vic jr imo.. n/a of course.......
