Default VHO's

My brother has a 05' VHO and wants to start modding. I told him full exhaust and intake would be the best place to start, but how much is this actually helping these trucks? what kind of times are you guys running with this, he also is curious about a supercharger and his gains on them. I really don't know anything about these so any help would be appreciated, thanks.

My 05' VHO has a custom Nelson tune ,Corsa catback, and a Volant CAI kit and runs a 14.2 and some change in the 1/4 mi.
If he wants full exhaust, do long tube headers. Shorty headers are a waste of money. There a several long tube header manufactures to chose from. It will all depend on your pocket book to what kind of quality and materials you want your headers.
A supercharger is a great idea, but will cost quite a bit of money.
Whatever mods are done, he will never get the full benefit from any of them without a custom tune. Dont let him waste his money on a hand held tuner.............
Give us a budget he will want to spend, and we can help with the right options.

Jim

I'm impressed with your times, for now he doesn't want to put too much into it because he's looking into buying some land. But low 14's would be good for him now, i think he's gonna go towards a catback and intake soon, he wanted to just make it true duals all the way and put 2 mufflers in. Any ideas on decent sounding mufflers that aren't obnoxious, and i really don't know of anywhere around here to get a car tuned I've been looking myself, so i dont know what to do there. And are most intakes about the same, how is Airaid?

There are several cold air intakes.. Volant, K&N, AirRaid are all pretty good.

The way the exhaust sounds come down to the person. I have heard Corsa is relatively quiet and sounds great at WOT.

A mail order tune would work well for you since you are not going excessive with the mods. A tune is probably going to help the most.

most air intakes gain the same basically and i usually comes down to what YOU think looks the best just make sure you get a sealed filter system, Volant for example

a nelson mailorder tune would be best and exhaust is his choice corsa is expensive but very high quality

full exhaust w/ corsa will be loud, he'll probably want high flow cats on it of some sort if he decides to go long tube route. intake was an ok gain but the nelson street tune that i got was probably the best money i've spent yet.
