Default Valves closed..............

One more cam question, thanks for bearing with me; I'm trying to figure out the total time intake and exhaust valves are closed, do ya subtract EVC from IVC then subtact that from 360*? I can't seem to think............

Total time they are both closed, so basically the compression and power strokes?

Would be 360-(IVC+EVO)...

Assume IVC is at BDC and EVO is at BDC of the next stroke. That would be 360 degrees. The crank rotates twice for each cam revolution, and degrees are measured in crank degrees so a complete cycle is 720 degrees.

Real example is my cam at 0.05" of lift IVC is 46 degrees after BDC and EVO is 68 degrees before bottom dead center. Total time they are both closed is 360-46-68=246 degrees of crank rotation.
