underdrive pulleys

Irrelevant. The matter at hand is increasing the efficiency of the fixed drivetrain; this of course is paramount to GM. If you think they haven't looked at multiple ways to drive the front accessories, I think you would be kidding yourself. The stock pulley setup is the best compromise of all aspects; I myself am not willing to give up stock driving manners for a measly 5hp or so, but I understand if many of you will. If you are going to go through all the hassle and cost of doing the UD pulley to gain .1/.2 at the track, why not just run a short belt at the track?
This post is from the GMT900 section:
"I have 1 installed the underdrive pulley without the alt and I didfeal some power and throttle response
Disadvantages steering becomes hard when ur not accelerating and u must gehe exact size for the belt or u will face problems"
I'd also imagine overspinning the alternator will lead to premature wear and failure.

the one i posted comes with an alternator pulley as well.....if i can gain a little rwhp and drop some time at the track i will most likely do it. i have a stock stereo so im not worried about that, and if i dont like it after its on i can take it back off and sell it and know i wont like it for future vehicles

Same difference.
The U/D pulleys are meant for those that want some more performance. It's a bolt-on. Not a big deal to install and it probably a hour's worth of work if you know what you are doing.

Don't be an *******. If you can't comprehend my argument, you shouldn't be in this thread.
More testimonial on the UDP:
"I installed an underdrive pulley on my T/A and did notice better track times. Even some of the people racing each week noticed my T/A was faster with the UD pulley, came off the line quicker, was able to spin my tires easier also.
That being said, I also had problems with it. While sitting in line to race my battery went dead, my car was also harder to steer especially when parking. My turn signals struggled as well, windows rolled up slowly.
For an A4 car I don't know if it's a wise mod or not. I ended up taking mine off because of the steering issues, maybe a lowered f-body steers harder."

I think the negatives are overblown. If you change to an overdrive alt pulley, it will spin the same as before. So there shouldnt be any probs with the electrical.
Also, if the truck has a cam, the idle will most likely be set a little higher so the accessories will spin the same as stock.
Id be more worried about over revving the accesories with thstock pulley when raced.

There are several people in this thread who responded that ACTUALLY own these pullies, and several that do NOT own them.

You guys crack me up at the money you waste on a lot of this aftermarket hocus pocus. Go ahead and waste your money on your pulleys and your air boxes, air filters and throttle body spacers. It's about as ludicrous as it gets. At any rate, I'm going to go outside and add a hyperion super coil to my alternator so I get more voltage to my ignition coils. It's good for 20RWHP man......
