Default Twin alt setup in progress, pics ***edit - complete***

Started on a twin alt setup today. I have a Delphi 140 amp and an aftermarket 180 amp that I am going to run together. Today my buddy Ryan and I worked on mounting and fitment. I still have a couple thigs to figure out, like where to get a freakin huge belt (130" or so) and how to mount an idler pulley between the alts to get better belt wrap. Anyway, here are some initial pics.

The last pic shows the mounting brackets in place...there is one that runs from the rear of both arms on the alts to mount them together, and in my case we made a new nose support for the Radix that incorporated a mount for the front side of the inner alt.

We were talking about the possibility of selling the kits if there is enough interest. So....comments? Suggestions? Anyone who might be interested in running twin alts?

wouldnt that just add to the drag already and make it work harder to produce more hp because of extra drag than before??

thunder550,

i think what your doing is cool, so please don't take this the wrong way...but why would you want to run 140amp and a 180amp alt's? why not just get a good quality 300amp or 400amp alternator? if you've gone this far in fabbing up your own, i'm sure you've already looked in to it and have your reasons why your doing what your doing. so, what kind of power draw do you have that makes you need that kind of charging power?

I recently installed a delphi 200amp/105amp @ idle alt in my SS to power all my electronics and such. I'm very interested in seeing you have have going on to need the dual alts.

Yes it will add to the drag but when you are making 600hp at the crank like me 10hp isnt that big a deal

Seriously it will add to the drag slightly but this is for someone that has a high electrical draw such *** a system or offroad lights or a winch or anything else.

Thunder I would definately be interested in one if the price is right. This truck will event lifted on big *** tires and a winch and offroad lights are going to be a must looks good. You might look into diesel belts the one on my dads powerstroke is long as hell and it has the dual alternator setup on it from the factory jsut a thought. That will be 10 bucks off my kit

that'd be great for a system but probably not pushing enough to do say, an onboard welder or something.

If you ran two 180s with a dual or triple battery setup it would.

I'm curious to see how you end up getting a belt wrapped enough around all those pullies not to slip.

Looks like he will have to fab a double idler. come straight down off the stock alt, go 90* over, them straight back up to the new alt. Hes gonna need a loooooong belt. If he can spread the double idlers apart even more he could get more belt wrap.
