If I had it to do all over again, I would get a 2500HD reg cab long bed w/ a 6.0L/4L80-e and 2wd. Cut the frame down to accept a short bed, slap a turbo on the motor and a shift kit and converter in the tranny, put an Eaton out back, and drive the hell outta it.

Might be a little outta your budget though.

Try looking for a RCSB 4.8 w/ high miles. Get a forged 408 first and add a turbo kit later. I think you'll be much happier in the long run.

I wouldnt do the HD id so the regular 2500 as that still gets u the 6.0 and the 4l80 just not as big of frame so it should shed some weight.

the 2500/1500HD chasis doesn't come in RC or EC, just the CC.

I like the 2500HD advice.......hmmm...........wonder why?

If buying a used/new truck I'd do a 2500HD also. That is if you don't like to modify too much.

Otherwise just do like he did with the 1500 4x4 and put all the HD stuff on it.

I gotta have the ext. cab personally.

if i was going turbo and didn't have a bunch of money i would probably go with a 6.0 block and bore it to 4.100 or 4.030 and use a stock crank forged blower pistons and good rods, nice sized turbo and u could safely run 10-12 psi boost(can run more) on a daily basis and not worry about busting. Oh, and of course a built tranny or 4l80 for the time being.

get a Regular cab v8(5.3 or 4.8.. doesnt matter) with a ton of miles and still Looks good and all other options work.

Drop a slightly used 6.0 in there and a 480le in there(the HD tranny is a MUST... more than the engine size is for an FI setup in these trucks). I would stick to 2wd to save $$$ and weight, but the 4x4 is going to launch better with less money and modification.... a 2wd can launch just as well as a 4by if the suspension is set up correctly.

Get the STS or C motorsports kit(size: gt-67 to t-76). Go with an OBX FMIC for cooling. Use at least a 3000 stall convertor in the tranny and get an Eaton posi for the rear end. Since you have the HD tranny... look into like a 75-100 dry shot of N2O for the 60' times. I would also get a Cam, new heads and springs.

The biggest issue is going to be tuning... MAKE SURE THAT IT'S A DYNO/STREET DRIVEN TUNE!!!!..
