Question Tuning.

Wondering in referrence to tuning with LS1EDIT.

How do you know what to tune? Meaning A/F, the diagnostics, etc?

Is there a book on this? with numbers and so forth?

Possibly some referrence guides or websites that give specific details?

Thanx guys.

with edit i can't tell ya. soon i will be able to tell ya. a lot of folks are going with a nelson tune which seems to be badazz. but with edit, you can do almost everything under the sun. that would be my choice if i had it to do over.

edit: nelson tune is with edit. forgot to mention that

you need to have a-tap or EFILIVE to monitor what your truck is doing.
i had Allen at Nelson performance in San Antonio tune mine. i now i am just tweeking it, here and there. i hear he will program a computer for ya and ship it out to you and then you ship him your old computer, that way your not without one.

I want to learn to tune myself. Not have others do it for me. I have access to a dyno, just want to learn to tune trucks like mine.

This is why I want referrence books or places I can learn from.

i would recommend talking to BigKID, Farmtruc(nelson performance) and a few others (sorry if i left your name off) i am sure these guys or 01Thunder can help you learn how to tune with edit. I am about to jump up from pred to edit so i really can't tell ya. I can only point you in the right direction. an easy thing to do would be copy a file and see what they did and go from there.

to me real world driving is a better tune than tuning it on the dyno. you cant get the same effects that you would on the street. you can shoot for most HP and TRQ, on the dyno but i dont think it will be the same on the street. but thats just my .02
Allen tuned mine while i drove it around. when he gets his dyno in then im gonna go over to his shop and put it on there to see what im pulling.

you can also go this route. i have been sitting here comparing my stock tune, too my HPPIII tune. and Allens tune too see what has been altered. it just takes awhile to figure this crap out. and theres alot of it.
