Default Trying to decide on a new cam with new heads

I am waiting for my new heads to come in (patriot stage 2 LS6) and was wondering about a new cam. I called crane and they said that the 236/240 600/600 112 is what I need. Any thoughts from you guys.

I will still be running my 3400 stall and spraying a 150 wet shot. My goal here is to get somewhere in the 11's with the 5.3. Oh one more thing, after the heads and cam get in I will be ordering a new rearend. Big ol DANA 60 for me. I am kind of stuck trying to decide what gear I want. Should I stick with the 4.10 or go bigger with there 4.33 or 4.88??

Thanks

I can't help much with the cam choice, but that sure sounds big.

I think I'd have to recommend Futral for a cam company - I haven't heard nothing but GREAT things from/about them.

Personally, I like the sounds of 4.33's. Maybe shorter, like 4.56's if it's going to be just about an all-out drag-only truck.

yea, but with a big stall and a shot of nitrous, your gunna wind up those gears pretty quick. I would prolly do 4.10s.

Let us know how it works out.

Yeah that was what I was worried about running that high of a gear. Really dont want to go into O/D. My last trip to the track I did not have the jug in so it was just cam, and I hit the very bottom of 3rd. I have 3.73 right now. Yeah I think I will keep it simple with the 4.11

I really never knew how long it took to order big parts like heads and rearends and all. Hopefully everything will be here in a few more weeks. I will post pics and dyno numbers. Then hopefully get some vid at the track.

Thanks for yalls help anymore will be a great help.

Are you still running the stock 60E? or is it upgraded. That is a huge cam in my oppinioin. You should probably find out the flow numbers and call comp or some company like that that will match the cam the best.

I am still running the 60, it is rebuilt with hughes parts. The guy that rebuilt it said it will hold around 600-650ish horses. I have a buddy with a Formula that had his rebuilt by the same guy and he is hard as hell on it and it is still holding together. So I will have to wait till I blow this one up to get an 80. It was a cheap fix for now. I know it is the week point but after shelling all that money for heads and a rearend, some things will just have to wait. That cam is from comp, it is right off there shelf. I will be calling around before I oder it to see if I can find a cheaper one.

I really don't see you hitting 4th with 4.33's or larger, especially with a large cam peaking mid to high 6's...

Since owning my first 4.10 / 32" tire truck a few years back, I'll never buy another vehicle with taller gearing. 4.10's are great street gears. Anything deeper would be great street/strip gears to me.

So you are saying go with the 4.33?? I am plainning on running slicks by the end of the year and going to a 28" tall tire. Even with this short of a tire do you think there is a chance of hitting O/D??
