What about tranny oil and filter changes?

He's talking about pulling the y-pipe out as one piece, by just unbolting it from the flanges. The y-pipe comes in pieces that slip together, that's what he wants to get welded.

this hasn't been mentioned so I'll throw it out there. couldn't you just use one cat welded in after the Y pipe??

from my understanding cats need to be very hot to operate, hence why they need to be as far forward as possible.

If the y pipe is extended behind the tranny crossmember it'll come out without having to drop the crossmember

It's in front of the crossmember, same as the stock Y pipe. And I took that out without dropping the x member

Cats don't have to be really far forward to get hot enough to operate but the manufacturers have been moving them forward so they heat up quicker to comply with tougher and tougher cold-start emissions regs.
