What year did they start using FAOSC? Do they use it on the 4.3s?

I agree, it grows on you and its hardly even noticable to me anymore. Kinda like it actually...probably growing up on a farm and having a few old hot rods of my own help out.

Guys, I made a decision. I'm putting the headers and catless Y back on. I gotta get the passenger primary sorted out so it doesn't bang against the frame (gonna try and bend it with a crowbar when they're hot) and then I'm going to an exhaust shop and having 2 magnaflow metallic spun cats welded in, and I'm also going to have them weld the Y pipe together so it's all 1 piece, wont have to worry about leaks anymore.

Started in 1996 when OBD2 came into effect. I dont beleive a employs FAOSC as it uses a single cat. FAOSC.
We are talking 1-2% of TOTAL fueling, not very much at all.

Met with some friends today, when we parked our trucks I noted a distinct odor...it was obvious from across the street.

Well guys, I got everything back on. NO more rattling of the primaries on the frame. And the smell isn't as bad either, not sure why Talk about loud, headers, no cats, into a cutout! The volume on my 22" magnaflow really went up signifcantly too over stock. As for what's left, I need to fabricate two metal brackets to keep the back two wires away from the primaries and I also am going to have all the pieces of the Y pipe welded together. I dont want to mess with any clamps or anything. I went for a drive, didn't go above 2500 though, I want to give the tune a bit of time to get settled in.

So you were saying that it had a real bad smell before, was that with headers only? If you are running open headers or any exhaust that dumps under the vehicle you will get a concentrated stench (especially when idleing) because all of your exhaust gases are trapped underneth. If you route the exhaust out to the back, at or past the bodywork, (think factory exhaust) you will not get the same stench as open headers. I think a lot of the people that complain about the uncatted smell simply have a poorly designed exhaust system.

If you weld up the y-pipe it will be dang near impossible to get it back apart if you need to pull the tranny or such.

Why would it be any different than the stock Y pipe? Just jack the truck up and pull it all out as 1 piece.

Are you saying to pull the engine and tranny out as one, whenever you just want to take out the tranny?
What about tranny oil and filter changes?
