Default True duals? or y pipe?

I just thought i would ask since it has been a question in my mind for awhile now. Is there any gain in horsepower or torque when you remove the factory y-pipe and run a true dual exhaust system? My truck is a RCSB 5.3 with a K+N FIPK intake and exhaust. My current exhaust system consists of 2.5" true duals into a magnaflow x-pipe into 2 single chamber flowmasters with 2.5" turndowns. I also have a set of flowtech cutouts installed between the x-pipe and the mufflers. I kept my cats for emissions reasons and i went with the 2.5" instead of 3" because i was told that it would actually hurt my performance if i went with 3" on a stock truck. I like the way my exhaust sounds but i was wondering if i gained any performance from it? let me know what you guys think!! thanks!!

I am running identical exhaust as you except I have 2.25 pipe and 40 series muffers. I like the way mine sounds too and as for horsepower and torque. I felt a little gain in power up top but lost bottom end torque from my previous setup. I don't know how much power I got from it.

i do believe that like what was mentioned, you will loose low end , but gain high end. most of the whole back pressure thing is a myth from what i have read, but it is still important to have a bit of it for your low end torque, that being my response to the true dual setup. i may be wrong though---do your homework and read everything you can before you go out and redo your exhaust.
