not sure about that.Century automotive put mine together and filled it with Royal Purple. i dont think i would put motor oil in any transmission.engine oil is to lubricate the engine-engine oil-.tranny fluid is for transmissions.

I know a couple of Dodge boys who use 5w30 mobil one motor oil in their trannys. It takes care of the "shudder" they have. One of the reputable local trans shops turned them on to the idea. I wouldn't use it in any of my vehicles though.

I agree, engine oil is for engines and transmission fluid is for transmissions.
Installed a tranny for a friend on his old surdurban a few years back. a few days later, he went to his mechanic and he recommended adding a quart of Tranny fluid to the motor and drive it for about 1000 miles or so to "Clean out the engine". Well a couple hundred miles later, the engine goes
I told him not to do that, but if he did, just let the engine idle in park for about 5 minutes, then change the oil. Used to do this with Kerosene to clean them out.
Kinda off topic, but the principles are the same...

FWIW, my dads Exmark grass cutter uses Mobil One 5W30 motor oil for the hydraulics. The wheels are driven by a hydraulic pump and it uses Mobil 1 motor oil. That's what they recommend. Must be some bada$$ stuff.
I don't think I could pour a quart in my transmission though.
