Tranny Shifter Question?
#1
Is it possible to have a center console shifter instead of the column shift. I really like the old 69 camaro shifter style. Has anyone done something like this in a silverado/tahoe?

I guess anything is possible. I think it would be pretty cool, although I don't know of anyone that has done it on the newer trucks. I did see a conversion to a manual on a 94' once.

Do the new electronic transmissions have the linkage connect directly to the valve body like the TH350's of old? Or, does the computer control the transmission?
I looked on the B&M website and their Megashifters (for example) require some sort of controller to command the 4L60E transmission. It doesn't seem as simple as changing the linkage and cable from a column shifter to a floor shifter.
Anyone familiar? Would love to install a A4 shifter.

This is one of those mods I plan on doing if the 4L60E provesi can handle 500 rwhp / 600 rwtq. Otherwise I'll be searching for a TH350, gearvendor gear splitter and a transbrake <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I have seen and done 1 B&M hammer shifter on a 4l60e tranny for F-bodies and its just the same. Its a matter of setting the shift cable correctly. Even though the tranny is electronically shifted it still has manual actuation...the computer is just capable of overiding the manual setting.
