anyone know if i can get tranny lines, like the factory pre bent units with the rubber flex sections and ends and everything? i was trying to decide what to do to get the tranny lines to work for the 60-80 conversion and it just struck me, if i can buy lines for a non hd 6.0/4l80e they should fit right in.

I just bought some from my local dealer for a 5.3/4l60e last week for my work truck project. One of them was like $12 and the other was $17. I would think the ones you need should be in the same price range.

Yeah, there a few different choices like if it had a factory cooler, etc-I had to go around the counter and look at the screen and point out which pieces I wanted to the parts guy. But yeah I am tlaking about the steel lines that run the whole distance and have the rubber sections on the radiator end.

Parish 8, Make sure that if you have to cut and splice either or both of the lines, you don't use the common rubber fuel hose to do so. Tranny fluid will deteriorate it very quickly. I added a cooler to my truck before I put my Radix on and I used the factory lines like you are. The long line that runs back to the tranny couldn't be installed without either removing the radiator and grille or lifting the motor up. So I cut the line in half under the radiator and spliced it back together with rubber fuel line. It lasted less than 3 months and ruptured. When I removed it, the rubber had turned rock hard and was very brittle. I respliced the lines together with brass compression fittings and haven't had a problem since. They do make a special rubber line that can be used with tranny fluid so if you do have to splice them that way, make sure you get the propper stuff.

def want to use a reinforced rubber hose and you can have a shop make the lines for you.
I just ordered a trans cooler for mine
The lines are supposed to be run thru the rad first and then thru the cooler and back to the trans
The theory is that is heavy traffic the rad will cool the trans fluid when there is no air flow thru the cooler
I have always bypassed the radiator - since it going to be 180 F plus
A large cooler in front of the condensor should cooler the same if not better if the cooler is large enough
You could also bend your own alum trans lines. - not to hard with a hand bender -
I ordered a factory cooler - see if effects my radiator temps
