Trailblazer Converter - Happy or Not?
#1
I've just about made my mind up on going with the TB converter. From what I understand it should stall around 2500 or so on my truck.
Does anybody have any input on their TB 'verter? Lets hear 'em! Pros and cons.

i have had mine in for 1200 miles. i love the fact of having a stall but as soon as the tranny blows im getting either a 3000 or 3200. the tb stall is great daily driver. my truck has 95000 miles on it all orignal trans and rearend. sometimes it shift werid and just doesnt seem right. i doubt it is the stall. i have a couple of videos off my digital camara that i could e-mail to anyone if they want to see them. overall i like it i just want more stall.

I have one in a ECSB 4x4 with a 5.3 + Radix....It drives great! I wish they came like this. As far as launching, shoot...just mash it without using the brakes and it spins the tires half way through second with ease...285/50 R20's and a posi rearend. Do the same thing in 4-wheel drive and the truck still gets squirlly.
Great bang for the buck!

i hear a lot of people really like them but i just cant get over my 3000 stall i wish i would have gone bigger since the moment i got it but i cannot even begin to imagine what my mileage would drop to after that which i think is the reason a lot of people go with the trailblazer because of mileage and performance

I have the TB converter in my SS and it works great. With a tune & cam it will flash to 2800. I didn't want a slippery converter for daily driving and this unit satisfied that. It deffinitly got rid of the 60' lag I had with the truck (I had the same lag with my 01 5.3L). Now it has a steady pull from the second you hit it, not that "after burner kicking in" feel I used to get when I got out about 60'. If you want to use the truck for a daily all around driver I wouldn't go any higher with the stahl. If you are drag racing it on a regular basis, look at a yank or equivilent. My guess is the yank 3000 will net you about 1 car length in the quarter and set you back an additional $400-$500 green ones, plus be a little annoying when going to the grocery store, which is likely 95% of the typical persons use.
