Thumbs down Track Results! They Really Suck! (long)

I went to the track for the first time with my truck tonight. My truck threw a code about two weeks ago. Then it went away. It was having a hard time idling with Allen's first tune. I had to crack the throttle blade with the adjustment screw. Then the code came back, but at least it idled a little better. It went away and then came back about 3 days ago.
I ran a best of 16.3 at 86mph. I ran consisent 16.4's with a best mph of 87. Before you dog me, let me tell you that that DA was over 6500ft! So my time corrects to 15.0 at 94.5mph. Not bad, but not good. My 60fts were crawling, and 2.4X I didn't have bad traction either. Traction was really good.

Here's where the code comes into play! I have a SF3000. I can usually footbrake the bitch to 25-2700rpm, and it'll flash to about 3000. Not tonight! Or for the past three days for that matter. I could barely do a ******* burnout. So I went to Autozone and it said:

P0121, "throttle position sensor circuit, range or performance problem."

Could this be from cracking the blade? Would this cause the PCM to freak on me? I tried gunning off the line, leaving from idle and easing into it, and easing into it while stalling it. Is this TM at its finest or what? I would footbrake it, just until the tire started to break loose. I would gun it, jump a foot, then start going, I would look at the tach, and see/hear the truck struggling to get up to 3000rpm!?! WTF!

I am happy to report though that with this cam, the Vanillagorilla pulls like a raped ape above 4000rpm!!! I think thats where I got most of my mph.

I think at idle the computer is expecting a certain TPS reading and if it's too high it will set the code. By cracking the TB blade you are raising the TPS reading.

I had a TPS code after doing the top engine cleaner stuff, think some got in the sensor itself and messed it up until it dried out. Anyway, when the code was there the truck ran like crap so that very well could be your problem. The truck bogged and almost cut out the one time I nailed it off the line with that code set.

High DA's suck!! I deal with DA's in the 5000-8000 range.

With a decent 60' you would be in the mid-high 15 range.

My truck used to pull 2.3 60 foots with 4wd and a TT3000. When I got EASE (datalogger) I realized timing was being pulled to negative 10 from the moment I florred it to about 4000 rpm. That was with all the torque management removed! I have to set my spark retard limit to 20 degrees in edit until 4000rpm to avoid this. The difference is night and day! I don't know if allen can get rid of this hidden tq management or not. But Edit won't do it.

Yeah, that's what it feels like....timing. It's not fuel, for sure. I've felt this in my Camaro before, but I just move the distributor. Hehehe. I'll ask Allen monday, thanks! 16's arent bad, considering there was this nice RC 5.3 there with bolt-ons running 16.3 @84. Go figure.

I did beat a 98 SS Camaro though. That's right, you heard me. That guy didn't know what was going on. I wanted to tell him it was the pedal on the right!

Did you go through the procedure to reset the TPS position once you cracked it open?

Yeah, what's this whole re-learn procedure? I thought you just drive it for about 100miles. I feel stupid all of the sudden.

As far as the TPS goes, I never re-calibrated it in anyway. Obviously I should have. I just put in the new tune, I set the throttle blade back to where the factory had it, but I don't want to drive it until I know this nice relearn procedure.
