Default TR 220 is in and DAMMMMMMN

Got the truck back today after TR220/112 and asp pulley install. Truck isnt tuned yet, and is going back monday for a Thunder Dyno tune. All I have to say is AWESOME!! this cam comes alive in mid range and top end and is really just starting to pull at my 5700prm shift points. Jason at thunder who did the install says I really need to go about 900 more RPMS with this cam. He did not get a chance to dyno it b/c of an LT1 with some tuning issues, but I will post all the numbers tomorrow. He said of all the cams he has done, my truck pulls the hardest out of all the 5.3s. This is the biggest cam they have ever put into a 5.3. He says that there is at least 30 more horse to be had with tuning and that I cannot wait for. The idle is awesome even at stock setting. sounds great and is more drivable than I imagined. Low end is a little less, but the gains in the mid and top end range are more than worth it. I need more gear than 3.73s.. Im leaning towards 4.10s but would like to have 4.30s if i could find them. Anyone know where i can find 4.30s for an 8.5?

I wouldn't be surprised to see 13.0 or even a high 12 with the addition of the converter and cam and pulley. The converter alone should be worth .5. Traction is gonna be a problem, but if you can get that covered you'll be smokin'!! Then maybe try a small nitrous shot and your right in the big game!

Congrats!

That thing is gonna fly with those new mods...

My 226 cam peaked at 5900rpm but stayed flat to 6700rpm. So expect to not really feel a drop in power and only a lil drop in TQ. LOL

As far as the gears go, I have never seen a 4.30 gear for an 8.5 rear. Thats the same rear I have in my nova also. Its got 4.10's just like my truck.

Wow, glad you like it!

It was too much cam for my heavy truck. I needed the powerband lower.

Does yours feel very tame and mellow under 3,500? Somewhere shortly above there it's like a little switch is flicked and the thing lights up?

With my 226cam and 3000stall the thing drove better than stock at part throttle and when ya nail it there wasn't terrible lag whil eyou wait for rpm to climb enough for the power band to start. A 220 would be even better IMO.

This was my dyno before any tuning. I ran it like this then after a full tune and picked up 2mph on avg.
