Ive got one questin though, its kind of off the topic, but here it is. Torque converters are torque multipliers. So if you install one will it show up on a dyno run? The vigilante says that 40-50rwhp numbers are typical gains with their torque converters. They are smaller, lighter than the stock ones, I know they are not adding power but are they freeing up power that will show up on a dyno. Can you expect to free up power with a lighter torque converter?

Generally speaking no. You may see a bigger TQ spike but that is about all. If anything some of the bigger or less efficient converters will actually show up as a loss on the dyno unless you lock em up. Typical gains locked would then show up as anywhere from 10-25rwhp.

At least that has been my experiences.

Justin, excellent #s! I'm glad the truck is doing well for you. It definitely was the quickest 5.3l truck I have driven. Good luck at the shootout and let me know when you want me to install some heads.

I was at Thunder to see all your pulls on the dyno. That is one sweet truck you got there. I think the final #'s were 340.9/338.1. Those are some killer #'s for a cam only truck. Jordy took me down the street in it, and like Jason said, that is one of the fastest 5.3L i have been in, it screams !!!!!!! Now you just need to get it to the track. See you at the shootout!

here's my dyno from my 86TA i had when i tested a Yank SS3300 vs a OEM 2100 corvette converter. no tuning just swapping the converter only.

Thanks mrr23, looks like torque verters dont free up any more horsepower but they are a effective way to decrease track times.
