torque management help

Pardon my ignorance, but why do you all want full power going to the tranny while it shifts?
I was sitting in the truck this morning thinking of how it's 'cool' that the throttle valve closes a bit on shifts. I don't shift any of my manual vehicles while I'm on the throttle. I back off at least a little.
Is it the slowness of the opening and closing?
Why wouldn't we want the valve to snap shut, the tranny to shift, and then instantly have the throttle open again....... ?

The tranny will still pull while its shifting. It will improve performance a noticable amount if it is going full bore during the shifts.

it was a diferent day and all but my gtech time improved by .2 by fixing that problem. if the tranny can't take the shift then i will send it in to get fixed. they advertise a 4l80e can take full throttle thru all gears including the 3-4shift at 900+hp when built.

Let me know what you do to fix that 1-2 shift on your tranny Parish because I'm having that problem right now. I'm going to see if I can't get a new tranny thru the dealer because I'm thinking its a slippage issue more than a programing one.
