I've been reading all these posts about the oil catch can and was wondering why my truck has been drinking oil lately. So, I've come to the conclusion that my truck has been consuming oil through the pcv through the intake manifold. I took the K&N intake tube off just to see if I would come across any gunk. I did. It wasn't too bad as far as being like a gunky build-up, but like a thin layer of smudge. It started right behind the throttlebody blade. I cleaned off as much as I could off the throttlebody and just on the opening of the manifold.
Is this the reason I've been using like a quart or so every 2-3 thousand miles? Would the catch can for $80 fix this? Please give any of your thoughts and suggestions on this!
Thanks!

Mine does the EXACT same thing. I just cleaned up my TB blade/opening again cause it was sticking from all that crap. A catch can might be a good idea, oil in the combustion chamber is just not a good thing.
I usually "lose" about a quart every 3-4000 miles and it shows in the intake manifold/TB area.
Take the PCV valve/hose loose and see if the inside of it is covered with oil.

If you take the throttle body off and look inside, it's seems like nothing but sludge!! Someone on here just recently put a catch can in-line with the pcv hose and it works like a charm. I can't remember the name but you can probably find it in a search?? He had some pics also.

I doubt it's robbing much power unless the oil getting in the cylinders is causing some knock retard. If you have knock that's where you start losing power.
Still best to keep the oil outta the intake/cylinders.

Do ya'll think the EGR has anything to do with this also?

That's my install log. I think it helped a bunch. I'm going to attempt the EGR restrictor plate as well.
