Default too high oil pressure?

After my initial start of the engine with a hi volume oil pump on my guage it showed the pressure to be on the line just under the 550 and when it revved it went to 550...+...? Now that I have it apart again should I swap the spring for the lower pressure one? Keep in mind that I am installing a supercharger and a seperate oil filtration system before the super so mabey I need the added pressure to make the round?

I have heard alot of the older racers and some of the new say that 10 psi per thousand rpm is enough, but i personally like all i can get.. When you say 550, what exactly do you mean?

That true to a certain extent if you have too much you can wash the bearings out. I would shoot for no more than 80psi at WOT. I dont know what the 550 is referring too

old school kill LSX with their knowledge dont listen to ppl from oldschool when you have a LSX they are totally different.

if you should have around 40ish at warm idle and near 70ish for WOT. anything less then that i would check things out

on my stock guage cluster the oil pressure starts at 0 then theres a 1/4 line then 275 then a 3/4 line then 550 kpa. At idle my needle is at the 3/4 line then at higher rpms the needle goes to 550kpa or higher.

Your kPa reading is about right compared to a psi reading with a high volume oil pump. Your 550 kPa reading is equivalent to right at 38psi.
I would leave your pressure where it is. Don't take it down any. Supercharged or not, I would keep the higher pressure.
