Default Is it time to pull the motor?

Well to sum it up ive cracked the oil pan. In order to replace the pan i would have to pull the motor due to the lack of space in the s10. As of now i have stopped the leak by placing some marine tex on the 3" hairline crack along the bottom of the pan. I want everyones input on what they would do. Can you place a metal sheet that covers the crack and tac it to hold or is this not a good idea? Im placing longtubes and an underdrive pulley on this upcoming week, witch would probably be alot easier with the motor pulled, but if i dont have to pull it i dont want to. And if i do pull it what would be some things to do while its out?

As long as it is leaking I don't see it being a big deal. But on my car i would eventually change it as I don't like halfass stuff so.

is it the truck pan? anyway you can swap to the H3 pan or car pan? it'll give you more room to work with. i honestly say swap it out....it would be just a matter of time before it leaked again or got worse.

How did you manage to crack it? I would probably JB Weld it and try that first before pulling the engine. If you do pull it, I definitely wouldn't weld a metal plate over the crack. If anything, just run a bead along the crack and fuse it back together. The weld will be much stronger than the metal the pan is made of, it will be the strongest point on the pan after your done.

Its the truck pan that i have, it hangs a good 2 inchs below the cross member. I cracked it backing out of an unfamiliar area still half asleep.
I am most likely going to end up pulling it tuesday. Any ideas of things i could check or do while the motors out?

ARP rod bolts FTW! I would put in a new LS2 HD timing set also.
