Richard really knows what he's talking about and he had alot of faith in the edelbrock's so i think I will try them out. The first time I called him we probley talked for about 30 min. about my setup and what would work best for me. He even told me about some the projects he's had in the past and how they turned out. You cant beat his customer service along with his experience.

Okay. I'll admit, I have no idea what heads really are and what they do, so I'll ask.
What are the benefits of going with 'performance' heads and what should I look for when shopping around for them?

When you compare flow vs. cost, the new Dart heads win. As cast, they will outflow many CNC ported versions... If you really wanted to spend the money, you could always clean up the Dart castings too. I know Dart will be selling at least one set of heads sometime in '06.
Good luck with the Edlebrocks!

IMO, its a waste to get new heads and not work them.

The main reason im going for aftermarket heads is because of the thicker deck. A GM head is 7/16" thick while the edelbrocks are a lot thicker. I thank the edelbrock are around 3/4" thick. They also flow very well with only a 212cc intake Port. Dont get me wrong LS7 flow very well but again there a thinner GM casting. I want a thicker casting so I dont have head gasket failure. Here is a flow chart on the edelbrock casting.
.100" 67.6 55.8
.200" 138.0 121.3
.300" 207.2 170.8
.400" 256.6 207.2
.500" 291.1 226.9
.550" 302.3 230.0
.575" 305.1 231.1
.600" 307.5 232.5
.625" 310.7 233.7
.650" 310.7 236.0
