Default Time to come clean...............

OK guys- I've been wrestling with some issues lately. Mainly how big of a cam while retaining good low end. Many have recommended grinds like 210/216 .531/.531 which I've always thought was absurd as I was really afraid of anything over something like a 200/208 .502/.502, but am starting to realize that this isn't your grandpas' Caprice.
I come from the background that an iron headed LT1 on those 9C1's/ Impala SS/ Caprice circa '94- '96, '96 mostly. I thought I'd have a big idea one day and stuff a Corvette LT1 cam into the Impala for a little more snap off the line and all. Big mistake, the added duration did in the low end, and that's why I'm so leery of going too big as I don't wanna go with a higher stall and all- I'm in it for the low end. So, in conclusion I'm finding out that these LSx engines are pretty flexible with regard to duration and something with a little over 200* can actually enhance the fun factor whle retaining mileage.
Thanks for puttin' up with me here, guys- it takes awhile B4 the lite goes on sometimes.................

Understandable. Heads aren't cheap and engines definitely aren't.

have you checked out the cam guide yet?

yeah I did- thanks. Guess I was a little too over whelmed at the time, I'm still pretty set in my ways with Gen2. Seems I'm just startsing to really appreciated the marvel of engineering that the LSx is. I'm also leaning toward a slightly bigger cam and going like 2, maybe 4* advanced. Gotta keep reading, though.....................

i would think that a 212/218 comp high lift would work pretty good with what you want from your setup
