Default Throttle body spacer = Rough idle

When I first bought my truck it was around my B-day, and my mother ordered me an Airraid TB spacer. I felt the same way about them as everyone else does but figured it wouldn't hurt and proceeded to bolt it on with plans of Nitrous later.

Now, my problem did not start there, but around the time I Installed my P&P Throttle body from Peak Speed (Bob is local and a good guy to deal with) and my Black bear tune. My idle became very sporadic on cold starts and a little sporadic when warm as well as a slight stumble at stoplights when light throttle was applied (intermittent). Since drivability seemed to be fine, I figured it was just a mix of the new TB and tune and sort of dealt with the issue.

Well, I have had a lot of time on my hands lately and decided to remove the spacer since I had nothing better to do.
Once the spacer was removed I started her up and....you guessed it, I had a perfectly smooth idle from cold to operating temp. It no longer idles as high as it did when cold and (this may be a placebo effect) part throttle drivability seems to have improved as well as throttle response, again that may be the placebo effect.

I did some searches and could not find anyone one on here with similar before and after results, so I figured I'd make a thread just in case someone was having these same troubles.

Also, I cant find it anymore but this morning after google searches, I found another forum where a member stated that a tuner told him the spacer disrupts airflow and throws off the MAF sensor. Maybe this was my issue.

Well thanks for reading and if this is in the wrong spot, MODs I apologize and please move this for me.

I bet it was a Vacuum leak.
Did it have a gasket on the TB and one on the TB spacer?

Good point! There was no gasket between the TB and spacer. I never even considered that to be the issue. Wouldn't I have gotten the same results when I first installed the spacer though?

It could have gotten worse or just was acting up at certain times.

Makes sense, I suppose the symptoms could have been exaggerated with the new TB and tune. Well, hopefully this thread isn't too useless then.

Sorry for the delayed response bud. Did removing the spacer help with the problems you were having?
The symptoms I was experiencing were similar to yours, but certainly not as bad. Like nonnieselman mentioned above, did you have a gasket between the throttle body and the spacer? Well let us know how it worked out. You have a nice truck by the way.
