thinking about getting a cam
#1
I have begun to seriously think about picking a cam up sometime this summer. so far the main one i am looking at is the vinci 062. now i read the cam thread and have somequestions. the thread said 2000+ stall and vinci sight said stall is desierable so do i truely need a stall or can i skip that. also if i were to get this cam with a nelson tune lts and other boltons how would the tranny react to the new power? now for the speaks on the truck hopfully help anwser my questions 99 1/2 ton 5.3L 4.56's front and rear and i have about a 35" tall tire on it and it wieghs in the niegborhood of 6000 pounds.

what vinci basically means is you can get away with the stock converter. but it'll be somewhat soggy taking off. the powerband is raised above where the converter will reach it's stall point (about 1100-1500). so, by using a higher than stock stall converter, you'll pass the soggy point and will get you closer to torque peak.

im trying to get VHP to do a cam GP.. see down about 4-10 posts
the 44 is supposed to be a good idling/torque cam also... im probably gonna get that if the GP price is good.. its 114 like our stock cams so the idle should be pretty fair without any tuning..
112 would be a lil harder to tune, but it would sound mean

keep in mind you would want something that pulls good form say 3000 and up... If you are getting a stall, then find out where that stall flashes and match your cam to that.. if you get a 2600 stall, figure it may stall 3000 really in a heavy truck, so pick a cam that makes power from 3000-6000.. they make cams for stock stalls also that pull from 1800+
im probably gonna just cam mine and not worry about the stall
