Default This thing SUCKS!!!

I got into my truck today to make the 15 mile trip to school. I haven't boosted in in a few days since it's been storming here out of hand.

Anyways, I take the right onto the long onramp to the freeway and lay my foot into it from a roll.. This thing slipped like a ****, way more than it ever has before.

Now I have a quote 'built' 4l60e. Without a shift kit and stock stall...

so after the slippage, I let off, coasted to up to 60 and then started rolling on the gas to build boost without a shift. I looked over my shoulder and there's a black z28 moving fairly fast, so I hit it to the floor and downshifted. It shifted fine, then right after it was going to shift back down with my foot on it, The tranny doesn't shift and hits the rev limiter 3 times, and then finally shifts.... I ended up completely ripping the camaro a new ******* for a 1/8 mile or so...

but then I was like WTF ... It this piece slowly starting to show signs of giving up on me? tranny has just never been the same since the STS.

On top of that, after slowing down, I get the ricer flyby... and to my dismay, It ended up being a 6 banger with rims and a body kit.

Who did the build and what was supposedly upgraded? I wouldnt think that the power you are making would toast a built tranny that quick.

I know how you feel. Mine trans just went out on me the other night. Would not shift out 1st till 4,000rpm. Its at the shop right now, found out the 2nd accumulator "plastic" piston is cracked. Now we are just waiting on a new metal one to replace it.
Knew I should have replaced it when I installed the shift kit.
Guess it could have been worse.

You really need a shift kit with the STS, on boost it was night and day difference with it.

do the shift kit and possibly the billet servos too... that'll eliminate any slip issues you have.

Im off topic here.. but i was posting about that plastic piece in the 2nd accumulator... the HD shift kit actually replaces that... after i packed the spring in there i was wondering why my standard kit didnt have me replace that either... everything shifts so hard now when I'm racing... I think im gonna find myself replacing that in the months to come.

My plastic accumulator wasn't broken when I did my trans mods so I didn't replace it... almost 8k miles later I dropped the pan to install the 3-4 servo and checked it again... still no problems.

I did do the Superior Shift Kit and Billet Servos and I've heard that the Trans-go is more likely to crack that piston... might just be rumors.

screw all that crap. No matter what you do to a 60e its going to go out and if not then when you do get on it then its under WAY too much stress for what it likes. Either dish out the cash for a 80e and never worry about it again or a TH400. You will spend more money maintaining and rebuilding a 60e that you would for the swap IMO.
