with my 6.0L and with the GT67 kit on the truck I hit 580 ft/lbs of fwtq (+/- 5%).

No stock 60E/65E will hold up for long at that level.

On the built 60E :dunno: Maybe it was hot?

I'd take a look at an FLP L5 if you need to replace it. Chuck's got an L5 in an 850hp C5, so factoring in the weight issue, you should be confident up to 600 or so.

This is the second trans in the truck already.

No way I will replace it with another 60e. I have looked into trying to find a 80e out of a bone yard and trying to find all the other parts i need to do the swap.

You are right, no matter what you do, it's still s shitty tranny. It was not built for performance. It's that simple.

I dont think I am ready to dish out money for a new tranny. Not until this one goes. How much have you guys been doing these complete swaps for? I know i can get a kit from speed eng.

Sorry to hear it bro... Mine was doing the same thing after we started making real power in the big truck.

I am not even going to play around with those F'ing trannies anymore. I am putting the 80E in the lil truck AND in the big truck even though it's just going to be heads/cam N/A.

Could a FLP built 65 hold up? I would hate to spend that much on FI and have my tranny leech off more than its fair share.

Wouldnt spending the money on getting the built 60e almost equal the price for the swap to an 80e? dont know the prices so just wondering. also, is there less drivetran loss on the 60e then the 80e? weight difference?

Do you have a cooler for that tranny? I hope so. The 4L60E does not like to get hot. It is an inexpensive upgrade. Check into it if you haven't already.

Now I have a quote 'built' 4l60e. Without a shift kit and stock stall...

so after the slippage, I let off, coasted to up to 60 and then started rolling on the gas to build boost without a shift. I looked over my shoulder and there's a black z28 moving fairly fast, so I hit it to the floor and downshifted. It shifted fine, then right after it was going to shift back down with my foot on it, The tranny doesn't shift and hits the rev limiter 3 times, and then finally shifts.... I ended up completely ripping the camaro a new ******* for a 1/8 mile or so...

but then I was like WTF ... It this piece slowly starting to show signs of giving up on me? tranny has just never been the same since the STS.

On top of that, after slowing down, I get the ricer flyby... and to my dismay, It ended up being a 6 banger with rims and a body kit.
All this sounds too familiar to me!!! Mine just got smoked from an overboosting turbo after 3-4 weeks of granny driving!!

The trans is the same basic unit for Corvettes is it not???? If so it must be able to handle more than what our trucks put out stock, although a truck weighs about 1000-1500lbs more than a vette. And on top of it we have huge tow ratings from the factory, I know some of that is because the truck chassis was made for towing or pulling but come on, its a truck it should be able to handle 100-120 extra hp!! I am in the same boat as the fried out 4L60 turd tranny club. We should make it official and really start the club up!!

Not too knock the tranny cooler idea but mine has the factory cooler (small I know). My trans went out on a 23 gegree day with a factory trans cooler and I never really saw temps go over 190 degrees.
If you going to get a tranny cooler get a big *** one and put a switch controlled fan to it as well!!!
