I was wondering the same-thing. Also what about the auto mode of the 60e, You would have to give that up right??

I'm sure you could get lucky and have a 60E hold up on a light truck with low power but why take the risk. People blow em up all the time in F-bodies so what makes us think they will hold up in a high HP truck? None of my friends with high HP F-bodies that are dialy driven stick the the 60E. That's how crappy these things are. A 65E is a better choice if your sticking hard with the 60s. All I know is that my buddies HD truck weighs 400lbs more than mine, has a HP sucking 80E and with the only main difference is his 6.0L he smokes the crap out of me EVERYTIME. Well, when we were both N/A with just cams and stalls anyway.

IMO I think the 80 is over kill if you dont have at least 600rwhp.The 65 fully built will hold just fine especially if its a RC truck!!!!

Who did the programming in the truck?

I heard that with a turbo, you're suppose to up the line pressure very early in the power range to accomodate the big increase of torque that will be present there. I don't know if that was shift pressure or what - it didn't stick with me.

To me, it sounds like things are already bad. I always thought that once it slips bad 'once', it's all downhill from there.

You might try looking for a used 4L80e. I got one for $500. It was a 2002 model and had 64K miles on it. The only problem with it was the output shaft seal was blown. I overhauled the entire thing anyway, but it was a great deal. These things are supposed to be bulletproof too.

Yup, I always make sure on trannies that have to hold power that they have a higher line pressure and they shift faster. The longer it takes to shift, the worse the tranny goes through.

I say that with all the money people want to spend on what ever level 60E, they should use that cash and go 80E. I was working with a Radix truck the other day and he told me thats his 3rd tranny so far. Can you believe that?

my 60e with a SK and billet servos, hardened input shaft from my FLP level4 (basicly my blown flp got put together with my stock 60e)-(front pump and input shaft) combined with stock tranny cooler took 8lbs and a sotck lq4 in a rcsb like a champ...burnouts, racing, donuts, launches.....it was a tree that stopped my truck oh and a telephone pole (at the same time)
