testdrove the SS today
#1
had the day off of work, i was out and about and for some reason i went to my dealer to see if they had an SS in stock because i saw on yesterday at another dealer across town. they only had 1 and it was black. i had my g-tech competition in my truck, but i didn't bring it with me on the test drive because the salesman road with me. it had some nice low end torque. what mods would you do to it? magnacharger/whipple, exhaust, headers, programmer? anything else you guys can think of? how about a torque converter (yank3000)? they wanted to give me $17,500 for my truck. my payments would have been $793 for 36, and $613 for 48. kind of steep for me. i think i will hang on to what i got. they took my keys to appraise my truck while the salesman worked numbers. half way home, i noticed my hood was bobbing up and down with every bump in the road. i quicked pulled over and of course the hood wasn't competely closed WTF. good thing i did my gtech runs right before i got to the dealership. cold day, thought i play a bit.

I couldnt do it. I love my truck. I couldnt sale/trade my truck. I know that its not the best truck. I know its not the fastest, hell my truck is probably one of the slower ones, but its MINE. I have worn a nice *** grove in the seat I don't want to start all over. I've had my truck just over a year and I owe less than half what the window sticker was. I dont want to start all over, even if it is a beter truck. And you can never stay ahead of that game. What happens two years from now when GEN IV motor comes out and makes more power than our GEN III. You cant stay ahead of that. When you keep uptrading youll never pay it off. And when you pay it off is when you can start doing the expensive mods like a blower. Even though I think its slow I can blow away most Fords (dame thoes lightning) and all Dodges.
Sorry about that got on a rant.

i can't do it either. this is my first new vehicle that i was able to purchase right after i graduated from college. i am so attached to it. i just wanted to look at the SS. before ya know it, i have numbers in front of me. my truck is a rare kind here in NY. it turns alot of heads even though not much has been done to it. i think it stands out better than an SS would due to the sportside box. i think that is an attention getter. that is my opinion.

Ive had my SS for almost a month now and I'm very happy with it. Its not the fastest truck out there, but it is a very nice truck, and it definately has some *****. Ive already put my LS1 fans off of my other truck on it and i just put a UPD intake on it the other day. that definately made a good difference. and hopefully ill get a TT3000 for it before TBYRNE stops the 10% off deal that they have right now. After that i want to get some long tubes and eventually a procharger.

I went by our dealer here last Sunday and they have a Red one on the lot.I looked at the sticker and for 41000.00 I can rebuild the one I have twice.I also saw a truck last week in town that looked like factory SS emblems on a standard cab.Is there a place that are building these?

Ours should be in any day now...hopefully i'll be the one who checks her in
Stock, its not like its going to blow the doors off of anything, but i think its @ least a step in the right direction. If it were a reg cab, and just RWD i think it'd be a WHOLE lot better vehicle, but thats just my opinion. The aftermarket support is there to make 'er be a beast, its just whether people wanna buy the truck and mod it and have a 60k truck. Either way, i'll build my own SS
