Very good insight.
I also believe (in my case atleast) that extending my shift points allows me to complete the 1/4 either in 2nd gear or just barely into 3rd gear. It is so close that as soon as I complete my 2nd-3rd gear shift I look up and I am already done with the run. I'm sure that really helps too.

Yeah Richard, I totally understand what you are talking about. I do the same thing on my bike, a little over rev on the 1-2 shift gives me less drop in Rs in second gear. Eventhough my bike makes peak power at 10.2k, I shift it at 11k. Anything less and I lose et and mph.
