Default Tech 2 /LS1 fans??

Ok, I just recently discoverd that I know someone local w/ Tech 2 that might turn on my fans once I get them mounted. I want to know exacly what needs to be done. What temps to set on/off at, the A/C, do I need a new lower tstat ?? Is there anything else that he's gonna have to do?? He's an old school mechanic so this will prob be the first time he's done this. Also once the fans are hooked up to the PCM, how do they work-- do they come on at 50% and 60% like the VSC controlled fans?? If I left anything out please let me know. THANKS!!!

I don't think the tech 2 will do what you want it to do. You have to change the parameters in the actual pcm programming (tell it too turn on the fans). the Tech 2 wont do this by itself. If the mechanic has access to SPS programming (tech 2 extras) then you could try using the VCI option for programming. It will allow you to make changes to the factory tune. BUT you have to call somewhere and get an access key to use this feature. I'm not sure what you can and can't change using the VCI key

I am not 100% sure, but I dont think the Tech 2 will do any programming. I will verify this on Monday if you would like.

The Tech 2 can do programming, they use them to load stock programs and such, on blank/fried PCM's, but as for actual PCM manipulating, i am unsure on that one, best to ask a GM Tech. I know they can load a program, my buddy did when a hypercrap fried my 98 Z28 PCM and i had to buy a new one.

Talking

they can reflash it with a stock program with set perimeters but cannot manipulate the tables and actions of the pcm for a prolong period.

even with a VCI flash it won't work. all the VCI flashes are special programs that GM has that would not be used as a default program. say you change your tire size, you can call for a VCI flash for differnt gear changes and such, as long as GM has a program for it. for instance, putting 20" wheels on a 2wd truck that came with shorter tires then the 275/55R20's they have a program that will flash the computer with the right speedo calibration for the 20's. its really hard to explain if you've never done it. but you can not do any custom tuning or programing with the tech 2
