Default TBSS intake on LQ-9 any gain down low

I've been seeing a lot of people doing the TBSS intake and I was wondering I have a LQ9 with LTs, dual elec. fans, bbk 80 mm tb, k&n intake, Gibson cat back, high flow cats, FLT lvl5 4L65, yank 2600 stall , 410 gears ,UD pulley and a tune so to make a long story short I'm trying to gain down low and will the TBSS intake help at all. Mods soon to come are 243 heads with a cam

I am pretty sure most of the gains are up top because a stock TBSS LS2 shifts around 6400-6500 rpm. I don't think it will lose any down low though and would work very well with 243/799 heads and a mild cam. I would probably look at some of the off the shelf grinds designed for TBSS or get a custom grind as they were designed to work well with that combo. Make sure you have those 243's milled to get your compression up to at least 11:0:1.

More converter would be your best thing. The compression from the 243s should help the torque a little but a cam is going to shift the powerband even higher. Honestly a bone stock truck needs a converter that stalls at least 3K.

243s on an LQ9 should already be right around 11:1 without milling them.

Yes you are probably correct. I know the chambers are 64.5 CC and 317 are 72CC but I couldn't remember how much that raised it off the top of my head. If he uses a .051 head gasket then that should be correct I think. Either way OP it would be beneficial to swap the intake over the stock truck intake to answer you original question again.

This made me run one on my lq9. Should be pretty helpful, its a bolt on truck also.

If your converter hasn't been restalled, yank gives you a free on time restall. Just throwing that out there. Not sure if you knew that or not
