Well, there is a sweet truck that we have here at school (Kettering University). It is a Silverado with the 4.8L. However, a Vortec CSC was added, along with headers and who knows what else. I just peaked under the hood for a bit after we got done testing with it. It see's about 5 psi of boost at WOT. The cool part is, it runs on E-85 (85% Ethanol gas) which is pretty sweet. We were doing a lab for a class involving the truck. Fun stuff.
It seems to go pretty good for a truck, but the damn tranny SLAMS into every gear, which is crazy. It's not just like a firm shift...it SLAMS into gear! Is that a normal thing for these trucks? Just wondering.
Anyway, just thought I'd share my little experience and see if the tranny thing was normal or not.

there is no point in that. Just to say you can spin going into second.. big deal.. you are loosing countless seconds.

idk if he was meaning to brag or not, Chris.. i think he was just saying that he is spinning into gear... or barking into gear. Traction bars should be in your future tho deckhand

I am not losing "countless seconds", you're trying to make it seem I am lighting my tires up. All I have to do is add slicks, and even "the barking problem" is solved. I'd rather have quick gear engagement rather then a slow sloppy shifts, especially when your spraying through them.
Girlsdoitright: I have caltracs.

oh ok... ya you'll be fine with some slicks...
I figured you meant it was barking and not actually peeling out so bad to slow you down.. just backing your statement up from before... didnt mean to come across as rude

I'm not sure what exactly has been done to the trans. It very well may be a built unit. I only used the thing for like an hour and a half. It just surprised me how hard the tranny shifted. I mean, when it shifted, the back seat slammed into the back of the cab. (Extended Cab by the way). It's way harder than I feel it should have been, but who knows, maybe it was meant to be that way. It only did it from 1-2 though. Forgot to mention that.
