Everything is going great so far. Should have the motor back together in a couple of weeks. The block is at the machine shop getting new cam bearings pressed in. All I'm waiting on now is EDIT (which will be ordered tomorrow) and the rod/main bearings to get here.
The truck is also getting 4.10s and an Eaton this Friday. I really wish that I had money for a converter, but I think I'm going to put that $1000 to a T56 swap instead.
Here are some pics of the bare block after working on it Monday night:

We HAVE NOT cleaned the block up at all...this is how clean it was when I bought it!

Yeah, it is really nice--except for the cam bearings. I didn't want to chance it, and since the motor was completely torn down, I decided to go with new cam, main and rod bearings. Cheap peace of mind, I think.
The new cam bearings are only going to be $40 installed, so why not?

If they were in perfect shape and very low miles i wouldnt change them and chance the machine shop messing something up.When i did my motor which had around 500 miles give or take,i used the bearings that were in it.I figured if put new bearings in it and drive for 1 week now the new ones are just as used as what came out. Its Just me.

The cam bearings needed replacing. You could tell that they were worn, and you could even see a little copper showing through. Plus, there was a nick on one of them.
The rod/main bearings were cherry, but again, just thought while I was in there, I might as well spend the little bit extra and get some Clevites in there.
