STS-Not lookin too attractive to me

I remember back when the STS truck kit came out the magazines were drooling over it. Look, no intercooler or underhood heat to worry about....fast foreward a little, This so called complete kit has yet to please anyone in factory trim that i have heard. First you have to upgrade the turbo to make any respectable horsepower. Half the sell of this kit is that the long *** tubes are susposed to cool the intake air, not needing an intercooler. RIIIIGHT, thats why everyone is saying there intake temps are nutty hot and they need an intercooler. Its not doing any good on the exhaust side, since the temps are dropping from the headers to the turbo, loosing pressure and becomming less efficient. Also, i have heard that the remote oil pumps are loud and annoying. I'm not sure how much you guys are paying for these kits and upgrades, but I would imagine its not cheap at all......I'm pretty sure my mind will chance when i get to ride in the one I'm going to be removing the cats from come the end of the week, but I would like to know what the rest of you think of it.

I'd love to hear what you think after riding in one!! from a dead stop to WOT mine barks the tires (like it did before the turbo) then builds boost and brakes the rears loose again, I let out, get traction and get back into it. I've never had so much fun. People get scared when you pass them with the tires fighting for traction. this is at 6psi in 100+ temps. I, like you said up-graded the turbo for my 5.3. now with the 6.0 in my turbo is a little small but it spools so damn quick. a innercooler is needed if you plan on running above 6 psi, other wise meth seems to work just fine. oil pump is loud, but I only hear it when the key is on and the engine is off. By the way I'd rather be able to hear it, then I know it's working. I'm very happy with my STS. only thing I don't like is filter location, but even that hasn'd been one bit of a problem, and is ease to fix. The livernois front mound does look good and would be the only other one I'd think about getting.

Kit works great at 5-6psi. It's guys like us that have to see how far we can push the limits that are adding larger injectors , fuel pumps, meth, IC's and so on. Take one ride and you'll be hooked. Look at the dyno sheet in my sig, This was with a stock kit, No extras.

that turbo kit is designed around the tubing to not lose power and/or have a problem building. over 100 hp gain on the basic kit. man that is great. i have seen and ridden in a camaro that nelson did and at 5 psi it was hang on and go for a ride. it was really insane with a little more boost. as for buildup time. no way. that camaro's 1st-second and first part of third were useless with out some sticky tires. man that thing worked awsome. i think maybe you have come accross some bad info or someone has told you it doesnt work. all that have it or have experienced it i believe are still grinning. and with every big performance upgrade such as a supercharger or a turbo i think noise is a trade off.

take a ride in one..you will be hooked...i love the kit..it made bad *** power..but in my every day driving off road..the filter placement was not for me so i changed...would do it again and again if i did'nt have so much off road daily driving...

DUEM, we will go for a ride soon so you will see the STS kit in its base form.
My tune I currently have from Allen is a little conservative since the last on I smoked my tranny because I was overboosting. as soon as I get my cats out I will drop in my new PCM and see what gains I got.
The biggest limiting factor to the base kit in my opinion is the injectors not being able to keep up with the flow of air from the turbo. As soon as you go above 5psi the stock injectors can't keep up. I am trying to get the most out of the 5psi kit before I start spending money on the intercooler, two stage boost controller, and the injector upgrades. This is just me trying to get the base kit as efficient as possible.
The next thing that happens when increasing boost over 5psi is increased intake temps. The more air being compressed and delivered to your intake the hotter it becomes and the base kits tubing was never designed to shed off that much heat. This is why everyone goes to an intercooler, meth injection or both to keep temps under control.
The lower your intake temps the more boost you can run , the more fuel you can burn the more power you have !!! But more boost always means more heat to deal with, thus the add ons to the base system.
