Default STS dyno #s finally.......

Well we finally got the kit on and all the accosciated stuff to go along with it. Rick and the guys at Synergy Motorsports did an awesome job on the whole setup! The wiring is clean and the turbo system looks sweet. The tuning is what really got me. The thing drives better than it did stock and smoother. I wouldn't hesitate to recomend then 100%!

As for the #s. I wasn't really happy with them at first because they sounded a bit low but I was also trying to compare them to Parish's 11-13psi runs on his 6.0L which was prolly not a good idea on my 5.3L w/ stock heads.

At 13psi I made 436rwhp, 479rwtq

Now the funny thing is it makes 400rwhp from 4.2K RPM all the way to 6.5K RPM TQ stays above 300rwtq through the whole graph also. It is the flatest dyno sheet for a turbo I have ever seen.

The IATs on this run were 160deg!!!!!

We sprayed the Alky but they wouldn't come down and only made the thing pig rich so right now my plans are wait for the new bigger turbo to get here and when money permits add an intercooler setup so I can run more boost and cool things down a lil better. So that's why I wasn't to saddened by my low #s. At 160deg IATs they actually look pretty damn good to me

Here is a copy of my 13psi run.

On the street this thing ran awesome. No drivability issues at all. Spool time was equally impressive for this rear mount kit that isn't supposed to work and is supposed to produce TONS of lag. Once I figure out how to transfer this video onto the computer I will post up some clips on my ride home last night with BLK6.0HD. I would have had a good one with a C5 Vette but I think I scared him when I nailed it the first time.

Those are some very impressive #s. Now we need some 1/4Mile times and some videos. I'm glad you finally got some #s. Hopefully this will satisfy all those who were skeptical about the STS kit.

I was skeptical after seeing a few v6 toyotas run with this kit having crappy 60' times.

I guess a stall and a REAL motor eliminate any lag.

Congrats! This thing looks like it'll really run!

Not that I am an expert, but I saw that STS uses Garret turbos. Garret turbos are also used on all ford poerstrokes from 1994.5 to at least 03 when they went to the variable vane turbo on the new 6.0 diesel. My suggestion would be get a 99.5 to 02-03 superduty turbo off someone. A lot of the diesel HP junkies (I used to be one) upgrade turbos to either the BB turbo or the hypermax H2E. The reason you want the super duty 99.5 and on is because it is a wastegated .85 A/R exhaust housing and a biggger compressor from previous models. On my dad's truck it gets to 10 psi fast but from 10 to 25+ psi awesomely fast. Also I believe the turbos are rated for 25 psi, but if you need bigger I would get a BB turbo good for 40 psi or hypermax for 50 psi. Good luck, if it works you could save some money over a new one from STS.

Congrats! These numbers have quelled some of my skepticism. It's a shame that I can't use this on my slammed truck. I'd be REALLY afraid of pulling water in through the intake from back there.

Thx guys!

The #s and more so the drivability of the kit pretty much quelled all my doubts about the kit. I love it!!

As for the turbo upgrade. I am working with Dave and Rick at STS and the turbo upgrade wont cost me a dime as we are trying to max out this combo. The STS guys and Synergy Motorsports are the ****! Besides, the turbo diesel upgrades prolly wont work well on my truck and surely not for 50psi. Max I would probably ever be able to run is 20psi on a built motor if i was lucky.

The filter actually sits kinda high so i really dont think water would be an issue but driving through huge puddles would scare the hell out me. I'd end up relocating the filter at that point.

Yeah, but my truck is 4" lower in the front and 6" lower in the rear than a 2WD truck--probably more like 8" lower than your 4x4 in the rear. My muffler sits less than 6-8" off the ground, so I'm sure that it would be a problem.

Can I just run a cone filter up through the bed and on top of the cab, like where those ricer scoops go, or maybe an intake stack instead of an exhaust stack?

Also, were you able to keep the headers since the turbo is remote mounted?
