It is a little louder, but not much. It also spools a bit quicker and definately has more power. I would guess 30 more hp with no muffler vs 15 more with muffler. I have a 3 inch straight thru magnaflow before the turbo.

If you already have a muffler, don't worry about the noise levels -- you'll be fine. You'll also see a noticable gain from banging the cats, and will see quicker spool up, which is more the point on an STS anyway since you're already adding 30 times the hp the muffler might steal

Weedo, if you got 0/ 0 from HPT you need a little more time tuning that thing lol

Thanks guys. Removing the cats will be my next mod along with hp tuners and a wideband. Since I've added the FMIC this thing pulls so hard now at 8 psi. When the needle swings over to 8 psi the turbo sound changes tone and it just sets you back in the seat!!

My gain was because the cats were bad, but it did gain 39hp from the removal, but like I said they were bad.
The turbo spooled up waaay too soon, I guess it was from all the back pressure. The truck felt like it wouldn't pull past 4000rpms or so.
I say remove them, the gain is worth it. The noise level will increase if you don't have a muffler, install one and it will sound great!

good luck,

allen

Now that it is running right... when do I get my shot at it? Seriously, I would love to see it run.

Bidkid- I do want to take it to gulfport and make a few passes to see what it will do. Maybe we can line them up? I do fear the blue bottle though.
It drops my old celica a full 2 seconds in the quarter on 120hp...lol

My truck is running much better with the IC now. Before if I tried to turn the boost up it just wouldn't pull much harder, now at 7 - 8psi it doesn't let up.
I'd like to get hp tuners and log it when I go to the track.

The muffler shop I went to last time was in tillmans corner Al. They put the muffler on, although it was Not a pretty job, space was limited since I still carry the spare tire and hitch.

OOPS!! Sorry, you got me.... I meant HPPIII. You know, plug and play and 5 minutes later you're supposed to have 30 more HP? That one, not HP Tuner. Sorry!

HP Tuner worked great on my Heads/Cam Z06. Too bad my Denali makes more power!
