What kind of mileage and maintenance does your truck have? are you getting an SES light? It could be quite a few things: Leaky or torn fuel pressure regulator, weak fuel pump, worn spark plugs, clogged fuel filter, clogged injectors, etc.

Another easy check is the Throttle Body. With that much mileage your TB could be gummed up pretty bad. I had a buddy that i was helping tune his truck and the frickin truck would idle at 300 rpm and if you crank the wheels it would stall, he had 70K on his truck. this might not be your problem, but it's an easy check, start with the easiest. Fuel filter would probably be next or something like that.

It's located in the middle of the driver's side fuel rail...it's round with a vacuum line going to it. Pull the hose off of it and check for the presence of fuel or a strong fuel smell...if you have either, the fp reg is shot and needs to be replaced.

If its not the fuel pressure regulator then I would look into a 2002 computer. My 2000 did the same thing, and it even would do it at slow speeds-like in a parking lot-ending up swaping the computer to a 2002 and it solved the issue.

I am on the same boat kinda. The last 3 days when I start the truck when cold it revs up to 1500 then drops down to 500 and hesitates bad, I am thinking the idle bypass is skrewed up????? Would it be going bad? I had it out and cleaned less than a year ago.

One I get above idle rpm it cleans up.
