Default started a father son project

me and my dad are starting a project. it is a 70 c10 were gonna go look at it and probly buy it tomorrow. i was looking around on the internet for a motor and i saw that ls7's have sbc mounts and that nelson has a wiring harness. is this wiring harness a standalone?? or is it engine and trans? and if it is then what transmission options are available?

btw the reason we want to do the ls7 into a c10 is becasue i dont think its been done.. i have seen ls6's and ls1's go into the camaros but nvr a ls7. so maybe im wrong so if iam please tell me..

you're not wrong on the whole ls7 in a c10 thing I think, but the mounts on the motor aren't the same as the sbc. If you're looking to just swap the engine into the c10 it wont directly fit. same thing with any other LSx based motor. reason I know is b/c when building the buggy we test fitted an ls1 and ls2 block in it and the mounts are way off from the sbc pattern. if you can weld/fabricate your own brackets then get er done, it's most likely what you'll have to do.

So far the only thing I've seen the LS7 go into was a solstice and tahoe - BUT I've not seen it all

That engine is pricey as hell off the shelf though

I'd just build a LS2 or something. **** just start off with a LQ9 truck motor and turbo it.
