SS truck ET ?

Just curious, I have seen a few around Houston, but haven't had a chance to run one yet. Also, seen them at the track but have not asked....
What do they run?
I looked at one close the other day, and it was a nice looking truck! Not sure if I would pay that much for one, but nonetheless, it was sweet!

At sea level, expect an SS to do low 15's in the quarter mile. Some have reported high 14's stock, but I am not sure on that one. Personally, I got 15.3 with 950 miles on it. It's not stock anymore, and a bit faster, RTs and hemis are in the rear view mirror, Lightnings still in front of me...

Stock Silverado SS's are running mostly low to mid 15's with a few in the high 14's. A little tuning should make mid to high 14's. There are some modded N/A SS's in the 13's (BigTex for one).
I like the AWD, it just rarely comes into play in stock form because of the traction control system in the stock program. With TCS disabled, the AWD actually starts to work... like flooring it when stopped in a puddle of water.
Stock Program : stoplight + puddle + AWD = just about nothing, just goes straight
Disable TCS + Tuning: stoplight + puddle + AWD = one or more tires spin and chirp before hooking up

no they aren't very fast for the price, BUT they are a hell of a nice truck!!! I just picked up a new 03 for under 30k and I'm very impressed by the luxury of the truck. the AWD is great too

I really don't see how you can say it's overpriced, but I can see it being priced to high for the market. it's not like you're paying too much money for a product. you're just paying for what you get.
My SS's sticker was 40,655. to get Regular 1500 4X4 equiped close to the same it runs about 37,000. so with the SS you're getting a 6.0L instead of 5.3 and AWD instead of 4x4 and the SS handling and appearance package.
all that plus 20's for 3,500 is not a bad deal if you ask me.
hell, I'm GLAD they are priced this high and this well equiped. it just means there will be less of them out there!

Yeah, if you are looking for an extended cab, 4-wheel drive truck, then I guess they aren't a bad deal. But, I don't see the purpose of AWD with 20" wheels, nor the extended cab on a "performance" truck.

I wouldn't buy this if I wanted an extended cab 4WD truck. I got it for a daily driver that I could drive in the rain or snow, look good and also pull my car. the AWD is convenient as hell in that manner. And I can take 4 people around pretty comfortably.
I definately see your points about it, many would love it being a 2wd regular cab. but if it was, I wouldn't buy it. if that's what you want, go buy a Joe Gibbs SS.
