Forget the gibbs truck. You could build a better version yourself. Of course the new car financing is tempting with the gibbs package - radix over 60 months.

I really don't think the SS is a "performance" truck as such, but neither was my old Z71 (nor parish8s Z71, or whitt1's tahoe, or ...). Its not geared as a competitor to the lightning. I bought mine knowing its potiential for a performance vehicle, but in stock form, it was choked down. Id does make a great daily driver.

I agree on the price, look at the sticker of an 03 excab 5.3 Z71 LT package - sticker is $37+. No one pays that inflated number, and neither did us SS owners. I had a excab 5.3 Z71 that I traded in. My SS is basically the same truck, with better motor, trans, transfer case, radio, interior, wheels, and appearance.

Hmm ... ok .. I think I see ya'lls point about not being overpriced. I'm convinced on the price. I still think it's a bit slow to where the SS badge. Maybe GS (Grand Sport) or something like that would have been a little more appropriate. I just think the SS badge makes it misunderstood.

Thanks for the replies guys. There are some good points here. I guess I figured with Dodge making the Hemi (though this is not a specialty truck only a option motor which will actually replaced the 5.9 this year), Ford the Lightning, that GM would make some sort of truck to compete price and performance-wise. Though the SS is a nice truck, it is not the answer. At least you guys have a rwd V-8 car!

I know this has been stated numerous times but it would of been sweet if they offered the SS package in a single cab. I bet they could of gotten alot more sales offering it in both extended and single

they should just make the 6.0 an option on 1/2 ton trucks whether it is an EC or RC.

i think they would have alot more happier customers out there

i know there are alot of fast 4.8 and 5.3's out there and are a good platform engine to build upon, but i think there is alot of us here that would love a 6.0 swap. it all just comes down to money, time, and "know how" for swapping

we wouldn't have this problem if the 6.0 was an option

If you want a 1/2 ton with a 6.0 just go and order a RC 2500LD (you'll end up with the long bed but with a gas-axe you can cure that) or order a ECSB 2500LD for the short-bed look, the LD IS a 1/2 ton frame with the HD suspension and drivetrain components (you even get the almost-indestructable 14-bolt SF rear)

There's a guy out here in Norcal with bolt-ons and stock converter running 14.7s N/A and 12.50 on a 150shot. He is friends with one of my friends so I can verify it all as true as far as mods go. I have seen the runs so I KNOW that is true

Anyone know what those things weight exactly? My truck weighs in at 4850lbs on race day without me. I would assume they should be near what I weigh. Just trying to get an idea what I will run once I get the 150shot on there

my 2500LD with the 4x4, 6.0, 4L80-E, and 14-bolt rear weighs 5660 with a half-tank of gas....with the AWD, 6.0, and 4L65-E I bet that the SS is pretty close to that (especially with the 20's and deluxe interior)
