I bet a custom output shaft could be made for the 4L80E to mate it to the AWD transfercase. FLP maybe?

Gonzo - That was my dad's truck that all the sudden lost gas mileage. I think it might be the cats(170K now) but, he won't take it anywhere to get them replaced.

the 2 transfer cases i have look exactly the same, i even took the auto track one apart to see if i could change the input shaft. i got the case split and got to a point where i needed a large allen to go farther but just going that far was enugh for me to decide i had little chance of geting the thing back together. from what i can see on the inside of the one i have apart i would say there is a prety good chance that the input shaft could be swaped on the 2 cases.

i have no idea what that AWD unit looks like on the inside.

after decided i was over my head with taking that thing apart i decided to just go with the hd case and later if i dont like it look for an auto case from a LD2500.

i have said this before, the HD case is rated at 5500ft/lbs, the autotrack is rated at 2200ft/lbs.

figure 800ft/lbs motor, 2.7str, 2.5 1st gear, 800x2.7x2.5=5400ft/lb's , not sure how that 2.7str really figures in but i think if i have killer traction and somehow had no wheel spin that the load right at the launch would be that high.

Parish, if none of the factory t-cases work out for you, will you think about an aftermarket t-case, like atlas or something like that?
