I am not sure why Speed Engineering changed the mufflers. I was sort of bummed to see people with ovals... He described them as straight thru bullet style mufflers with heavy insulation. IF I remember correctly, they actually do have some weight to them. Before I added the tail pipes it sounded like a race car people would say very loud in cab as well. The tail pipes helped to move the sound back and the tips, I chose made the raspy roar that it does at around 4k rpms. I also installed a torque converter and corvette servo when I installed the exhaust. Needless to say I was tired, hungry and needed my ride back to get home. I was also dying to hear it. I knew that the hangers were not on perfect. I could tell that if trimmed the pipes in front of the muffler it would correct the alignment of the hangers. To be honest I was beat and ready to roll. I took it to a muffler shop for a quote on tailpipes he looked it over and suggested a solution. He removed the rear hanger completely and heated and bent the front so it was hanging and not being pushed back. Also notice the hangers he added to the tail pipes. I would suggest taking it to a muffler shop it cost me $250.00 repaired with bow tie tips. The results priceless.

So how loud is this kit exactly? I'm looking at getting the 1/78 headers and over axle dumps. I think it sounds great in the video in the OP but everyone here is saying how loud and raspy it is. I live in a quiet neighborhood and don't want something obnoxious. Just wanting to know if I should plan on adding a resonator or not.

It will be very loud with out tail pipes. Add tailpipes and drive easy when leaving.

I could read 20 pages, or just ask the question that has probably been asked a dozen times in this thread

Will it fit a 2wd 2002 2500 HD crewcab?

I don't like the look of the tailpipes. I will just get another muffler added or a resonator

I have 2003 RCSB. I grew tired of exactly how loud it was. It is still loud af the sound is just further behind my ears. Especially on the gas. The sound bounces of the ground and echoes inside the bed.
