Huh. I had NO IDEA they were that loud.

I know the old roots one were... I love the chirpy gear-driven sound they make at idle.

The radix blower is designed after an old 6-71 roots style blower. It is a positive displacement blower, not a screw type (like the whipple) the whipple is supposed to be more effiencent though (from what I've been told) I am not sure about the chirpy gear-driven sound though. I have only noticed that on centrifical blowers.

it has a nice loud whine to it, only if you get on it really hard, or above about 22-2300rpms. after that when the bypas goes shut. i was on the street and the guy in the car next to me knew right away that it had a blower. its louder than my borla cat back. waiting for quicktime performance to come out w/ their long headers and moter operated cutouts. that out to change where the noise comes from, blown w/ open headers? hmmmmmm

At idle and part throttle you do not hear it. If you rev the engine or give it more than about 1/3 throttle you will hear it.

Yeah, but that is not the best thing to do. Just let it be and let them hear it as you pass them.

There are two local guys with seriously built muscle cars running roots blowers - a 6-71 and a 8-71, both of them almost have more whine than exhaust note, at idle...

Maybe they've really got those things geared?

You can hardly hear the RADIX at idle. It does make a little noise but can easily be passed off as a noisy belt accesory.
